This is one of 3 nearly identical small gem quality slabs of firebrick from the old smelters in Michigan measuring 3” long x 1-3/4” wide and just under 1/8” thick and weighs 2oz. The brick absorbed the metal during the smelting process and some were saved prior to being permanently buried after the decommissioning of the smelters. This is a rare piece of history and it is very suitable to be displayed as a part of history or cabbed into beautiful jewelry. These slabs are polished on one side and clear coated to keep it shiny.
