This is a large slab of firebrick from the old smelters in Michigan measuring 8” long x 3” wide x 1/4” thick. The brick absorbed the metal during the smelting process and some were saved prior to being permanently buried after the decommissioning of the smelters. This is a rare piece of history. One side is fully polished and buffed with way and should be regularly buffed with wax to keep the metal from getting a patina. I have cut and polished several slabs from this brick, they are all very similar and yours will be one of those.
