This is a large half of a Caldera Flame thunder egg showing its distinctive red/orange core surrounded by the dark rhyolite shell. This rhyolite has small round soft areas that grind down faster than the harder material. These thunder eggs are more expensive to purchase from the mine but are definitely distinctive and unique. This item weighs 8lbs and is approximately 8” x 7” across the face and 2-1/2” deep.
