This is a small Phareodus from the Green River formation in Wyoming. This area was part of the. Now famous Fossil Lake during the Eocene period and is from the split fish or 12” layers that have more of a brown/red color. This specimen is approximately 2-1/4” long on a nice piece of matrix that is approximately 5”x3” and is 1/2” thick. This fish has relatives in present day Central-South America and South Asia.
